A Wood Company in Healthy Growth

GTS was established in 1960 by Mr. Gunnar Topsøe Strøm from Norway with a view to selling wood to Danish furniture producers. The day-to-day management was handled by Mr. Ib Grøn and Mr. Wilhelm Ramm.
After a couple of years it was decided to enter into the trade with processed wood bought in the Far East - a decision which formed the basis of the further growth of the company.

Below please find a couple of main points of the history of the company:

• In 1977 the company moved from Frederiksholms Havnevej in Copenhagen to a beautiful, old restored farm in Marbjerg near Hedehusene approx. 25 km west of Copenhagen.
• On 1st January 1991 the company was taken over by Mr. Ib Grøn and Mr. Kjeld Bødker.
• On 30th April 1997 Mr. Ib Grøn retired.
• On 1st May 1997 Mr. Kjeld Bødker became the sole owner of Gunnar T. Strøm Danmark A/S.
• On 1st May 1999 the latest generational change was initiated, and Mr. Niels Kristian Jørgensen and Mr. Jan Bødker are today the owners of Gunnar T. Strøm Danmark A/S.
